My work takes on the form of gestures and objects, generated self-consciously from the position of a human situated in the present period of ecological and cultural upheaval. What results are poetic, yet absurd interactions between myself and my environment, which includes other humans, lifeforms, and forces of nature. Acutely aware of my own physical and phenomenological limitations, my work strives to transcend these boundaries, attempting to achieve significance in a world of scale and complexity that exceeds comprehension. By attempting to create a body of work that reaches across boundaries of time, place, scale, and species, I implicate the dominant cultural forms of the present and create meaningful documents of alternative relationships to the world. Works take on the form of evocative performances and processes that that utilise tools of biology, natural history, archaeology, and social science.
