Kira O’Reilly’s practice deals with notions of the body as both material and site.

Marsysus – Running out of Skin explored traditional lace making techniques interwoven with tissue culturing and engineering to develop an in vitro living lace of skin cultured from cells biopsied from the artist’s body.
O’Reilly eloquently recounted her residency experience in the BioDifference Conference during BEAP2004.
